The Coming Changes II

Pterodactyl fossil fills gaps in evolutionary tale

"The researchers say more study is needed to substantiate the idea of that evolution could occur relatively quickly, and that whole parts of a plant or animal's body could change at once." (More on this in my next post 'The Coming Changes III'.)

The pterodactyl has been named Darwinopterus, meaning "Darwin's wing" after naturalist Charles Darwin.

Astronomers have announced a haul of planets found beyond our Solar System.

With an expert panel's final report on options for U.S. human spaceflight expected to be released the week of Oct. 19, NASA and White House officials are said to be coalescing around the idea of sending astronauts on deep space missions to near-Earth objects and potentially the moons of Mars.

Something to ponder:

We are on the edge of change comparable to the rise of human life on Earth…Within 30 years, we will have the technological means to create superhuman intelligence. Shortly after, the human era will end - Vernor Vinge (San Diego University Professor of Computer Science. Speaking in 1993)

The ultimate achievement of bio-control may be the control of man himself…The controlled subject would never be permitted to think as individuals. A few months after, a surgeon would equip each child with a socket mounted under the scalp and electrodes reaching selected areas of brain tissue…the child’s sensory perceptions and muscular activity could be modified or completely controlled by bioelectric signals radiating from state-controlled transmitters - Curtiss R Schafer (Engineer, Norden-ketay Corporation)

We need a program of psychosurgery for political control of our society. The purpose is physical control of the mind. Everyone who deviates from the given norm can be surgically mutilated…The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective. Man does not have the right to develop his own mind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. We must electronically control the brain. Someday armies and generals will be controlled by electric stimulation of the brain - Dr. Jose Delgado (Yale University expert in mind control. Physical Control of the Mind: Toward a Psychocivilised Civilization)

To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family traditions, national patriotism and religious dogmas - Dr. G. Brock Chisholm (psychiatrist and co-founder of the World Federation of Mental Health)
